
I’m Geoffrey Matthews, a strategic HR consultant and accredited executive coach, focused on helping people and organisations to fulfil their potential.
Real-world insight and experience
In 2018 I set up my own business, building on over 30 years’ experience in leading HR and OD roles at major blue-chip international companies including Hewlett-Packard, Nestlé and Roche. Combining strong commercial awareness with a deep knowledge of human capital topics, I enjoy working with business and HR leaders to drive change and deliver creative solutions that enhance business performance. As a leader, developing people has been central to my role, and I appreciate the opportunity to help others grow professionally, including providing career and performance coaching for executives and professionals.
Theory as well as practice
For me, theory and practice go together, and as well as holding an MA in Management Studies, I am also a regular writer on HR topics, notably being co-author of “Engaged: Unleashing Your Organization’s Potential Through Employee Engagement” (Jossey-Bass) which was shortlisted for the CMI Management Book of the Year Award. I’m a visiting lecturer in Change Management for the International MBA Program at Pforzheim University, was formerly a lecturer at Management Center Europe, and have spoken at many international HR conferences.
My clients
In my consulting business, I partner with a variety of clients in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors, advising on topics such as people strategies and enhancing rewards and talents practices. My coaching work covers helping individuals through outplacement, supporting onboarding of executives into new organisations, and helping high potential employees get ready for their next role.
